The First Tooth!

Each milestone in your baby’s life is important, including the very first tooth. Every parent knows the pride that comes when each milestone is achieved. But did you know that some babies are born with teeth? Baby teething age can vary. Typically, babies start teething at 6 months. And it can be terribly uncomfortable. Not all symptoms are apparent in all babies though. They can have one or two of the following symptoms:

Drooling

Drooling is one of the symptoms of teething but not the main symptom. Saliva increases at 4 months however, the child’s lip tone is not yet sufficient to hold it in, hence, drooling.

Gum swelling and sensitivity

These symptoms are apparent due to the pressure that the tooth exerts when it pushes through the gum line.

Irritability, food refusal and sleeping problems

These are symptoms related to the sensitivity of the gums when teething occurs. A Chibebe Suggle Pod might hep with getting bub to soothe and begin showing signs of napping. Once you see that they are about to nod off, simply transfer them to a crib or cot for their peaceful sleep!

Low grade fever

Inflammation of the gums can cause a low grade fever but low grade fever isn’t a conclusive symptom of teething. Some experts say that fever during teething can be coincidental due to the fact that it is at the same time the baby loses its inborn immunity from the mother thus becomes susceptible to infections.

Urge to bite hard objects

Pain that occurs during teething is caused by the pressure that the tooth exerts at the gum line. It can be countered with another pressure hence the biting.

Teething is a part of baby development. Baby teeth or deciduous teeth are temporary but just as important as permanent teeth. Taking care of the gums before teething, lessens the discomfort when teething starts to occur.
